Topic: Domestic Violence and The Effect in Women and Children
Sponsor: Mujeres Latinas en Acción, Rainbow House, and Sherokees
Social Justice Community,
Passionately concerned about domestic violence and the effect on children.
Realizing domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15-44 in the United States. More than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.
Encouraging others to take a stand and say No to domestic violence; Physical, emotional, verbal violence.
Affirming that there’s not many she shelters in Chicago for women and children that have been abused.
Stressing that each year in the U.S about 240,000 pregnant women are battered by the men in their lives. ( Rainbow House, 2012)
Taking into account that theirs 1,500 shelters for battered women in the united states, but theirs 3,800 more animal shelters.
1. Proposes that both young women and men become aware of the injustices and ways to prevent domestic violence, before it effects them.
2. Applauds all non- profit organizations that work in the neighborhood and out of the neighborhood to help every abused women that seeks help.
3. Suggests that women who feel that are going through Domestic violence ask or look for help. Your NOT ALONE!!
4. Demands the government start building more shelters for battered women.
5. Expresses hope for Women and children to be heard when needed.
