Domestic Violence and The Effect in Women and Children
The problems sorounding the issue are the dehumanization women and children are getting from domestic violence situations. When children experience domestic violence as toddlers growing up they become either victims them selfs of many other illnesses, or they become violent them selfs. Theirs many teenage girls who don't know how to prevent violence in their relationships. Some are very scared to even speak up and yell for help. This problem is very comman in which brings teenage girls to a braking point. Teenage young girls that have children and are in a domestic violence situation are putting themselfs in dangr not only that but their babys life in danger.
Children who become victims of domestic violence endure suffering through psychological damage (Hurley and Jeff qtd. In fisher). Some immediate and short term effects on children are "Withdrawal, depression, Abnormal Fears, regression, learning problems or decline in school performance, truancy, bullying or tendency to become a victim, difficulty in building or maintaining relationships, Impulsiveness, behavioral and emotional problems, denial or obsessive retelling of the incident, and symptoms of full-blown post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) similar to those found in combat veterans."(Fisher). Theirs very deep effects that come from domestic violence. Many things you cannt be seen physically but other problems are mentally.
This is a cultural issue because many cultures are different. In the Mexican culture the term of machista is seen very commonly. In smalll villages in mexico the people in them have a saying that says " El hombre en caballo y la mujer a pie" the men in a horse and the women in feet. The people from the city say " El hombre en la calle y la mujer en la casa" the men go out and the women stay in the house. Women in Turkey are mostly Muslim, and have arranged marriages. Two main reasons of domestic violence in Turkey are because they have experienced it growing up, and their "...acculturation of patriarchal values..." (Alexander qtd. In Sahin, Timur, Ergin, Tapinar, Balkaya, Cubukcu, 2010). Women that become victims tend to hide their body with clothing that covers their arms, neck, and legs. They become psychologically numb, and scared (Rainbow House, 2011). Many women become very insecure about their body and decide its better to cover up. Some are forced to wear clothing that make them cover up everything. 36.2% of women in Turkey have arranged marriages (Sahin, Timur, Ergin, Tapinar, Balkaya, Cubukcu, 2010). They have second wife’s and preplanned marriages that have exchanging girls between their families. Many women are physically abused and have to experience psychological health problems (Sahin, Timur, Ergin, Tapinar, Balkaya, Cubukcu, 2010).
